Disorder Name : Venereal Diseases


Description: The venereal diseases are infections usually acquired during sexual intercourse. They are also referred to as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The organisms that cause these diseases are very fragile and cannot survive outside the body. They can thrive in warm, moist dark areas including the genital area, anus and mouth. Historically, the two more common diseases in peoples\\\' minds have been gonorrhoea and syphilis. Gonorrhoea is due to a bacterium called Neisseria Gonorrhoea and syphilis is due to a spiral organism called Treponema pallidum. Other diseases that may be transmitted by sexual contact include chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, granuloma inguinal, genital herpes, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, candidiasis, genital worts and AIDS.

In modern system of medicine, Penicillin remains the most commonly used drug to treat syphilis and gonorrhoea.

This drug offer good symptomatic relief but have a number of side effects. Serious side effects can be shortness of breath, closing of your throat, hives, swelling of your lips, face, or tongue, rash, fainting, seizures, severe watery diarrhoea and abdominal cramps and unusual bleeding or bruising. Other, less serious side effects may be mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain, white patches on the tongue, itching or discharge, and black, \\\"hairy\\\" tongue or sore mouth or tongue.
