Herbal Tibb-e-Nabvi Product Name : Safarjāl (Pyrus cydonia)

Description

Ibn Mājah narrated in his Sunan a ḥadīth from Ismā‘īl Ibn Muḥammad al-Ṭalḥa from Taqīb Ibn Ḥājib from Abū Sa‘īd from ‘Abd al-Malik al-Zubairī from Ṭalḥa Ibn ‘Ubaidallāh (ra) who said: "I visited the Prophet(pbuh), who had a quince in his hand and said: "Take it, o Ṭalḥa, because it has so many benefits." (In his Sunan) Nasā'ī narrated this in a different way: "I visited the Prophet (pbuh) when he was among a group of the ṣaḥāba. He was inspecting it (turning it around). When I was sitting down next to him, he gave the quince to me and then he said: " Take this, o Abū Ẓarr, for it strengthens the heart, makes the breath nicer and and removes the burdens from the chest."

Some other ḥadīths are told about the safarjāl, and they are similar to those given above, but they are not ṣaḥīḥ.

Safarjāl is cold and dry, but there are some differences in different kinds of food. All quinces are cold, constipating and beneficial for the stomach. The sweet quince is the one which is less in coldness and dryness, but it tends to be balanced. The sour quince is the strongest of all types regarding its constipating, cold and dry characteristics. All kinds of safarjāl quench the thirst, stop vomiting and increase the urine flow. Quince further binds the temperament, is beneficial against ulcers of the intestines, spitting up blood (haemoptysis), diarrhoea and nausea. Used after the meal, quince stops the ascending of gases / steam.

Used before the meal, quince has a constipating effect, while using it after the meal, it softens the temperament (?) and advances the digestion process.

The seeds of safarjāl is helpful against roughness of the throat or the trachea or many other diseases.

The meaning of "it (the quince) has so many benefits" is its (ability of) "brightening up". It is said: it opens up and widens the "coaccumulation of water", which means: "its great amount." "Darkness" is for the heart like the clouds at the sky. Abū ‘Ubaid said: "Darkness": a burden and a veil. It is
said: The darkness of the heaven, these are really the clouds and shadows.
