Description

The fruit is alterative, analgesic, anthelmintic, antibacterial, antiinflammatory, anodyne, aphrodisiac, carminative, cooling, demulcent, diuretic, galactagogue, hypotensive, lithotriptic, nervine, pectoral, rejuvenative, restorative and tonic. Useful in urinary disorders such as painful micturition, incontinence of urine, dysuria, urolithiasis, cystitis, calculus affections, gonorrhoea, syphilis, gleet and benign prostatic hypertropy (BPH).

Tribulus has been used for centuries in ancient Greece, India and Africa to increase fertility and rejuvenate the body. In recent years, Tribulus has developed a following among body builders and exercise enthusiasts. Bodybuilders use Tribulus because they believe it a safe alternative to anabolic steroids. It is believed that Tribulus increases testosterone levels by 30% in only 5 days. This is accomplished by raising the amount of LH (luteinizing hormone), which is produced by the pituitary gland. LH plays a significant role in regulating testosterone production. LH is a hormone that also deals with sex drive. A study including over 200 male subjects suffering from erectile dysfunction (quite often due to low testosterone levels) showed that many of the men experienced an increase in LH and testosterone as well as sperm production and motility. It is also given to treat sterility in women.

Recommended Dosage: 5 to 7 g powder of dried fruits.

Contraindication: This herb has no known warnings or contraindications, but should probably be avoided by pregnant or lactating women.
